Brute Force is the twenty-eighth offline mission and the thirtieth online mission in Earth Defense Force 2025 and the twenty-ninth offline mission and the thirty-first online mission in Earth Defense Force 4.1: The Shadow of New Despair.
Objective[]
2025: The Rangers are consolidating their forces. Its the first time a large enemy has gathered. We cannot even count the number of Hectors. However, this is good for us. We are ready. We will attack them straight on and crush them. The battle will be on the plains. But we will also attack from the air. The troops will fan out from zone 1 to 5. Storm Team will fight in zone 2. This is Operations Brute Force.
4.1: The Rangers are consolidating their forces, and this is the first time they've ever gathered in such great quantities. We can't even count the number of Hectors! But this is good for us. We're ready. We'll attack them head-on and crush them, both from the plains and from the air. The troops will fan out from Zones 1 to 5, while Storm Team will fight in Zone 2. This will become known as 'Operations Brute Force.'
Storyline[]
The mission starts with Storm Team and a bunch of Rangers on a plain at zone 2 with Hectors approaching from the other side. The Ranger leader warns to wait for the airstrike then zone 1, 2, and 3 reports that they see the enemy while 4 reports the all-clear. Apparently nobody is worried about zone 5 being silent while HQ will remind the soldiers of the importance of the defense line, by which he must mean the ten or so Rangers on one side of the map. Then two soldiers, the Tactics Officer and HQ will tell that the air raid is coming in case someone didn't understood the first time.
After the bombing HQ orders the ground units to attack the remaining enemies. As the attack in zone 2 goes radio chatter about zone 1 and 3 can be heard. Another bombing commences, but this time Shield Bearers block it. HQ, who finally realized that honor can't penetrate Shields, orders the ground troops to attack. Ohara then takes a few minutes state the obvious facts about the Shield Bearers and HQ decides to repeat his previous order to shut him up. Soon Scout reports that giant insects in zone 1 and 2 so another air raid commences. Meanwhile zone 4 is also attacked so a bombing run is ordered there. Scout also reports an attack zone in 5, but nobody cares about zone 5.
TO announces that Flying Drones are coming and true to her word the sky will soon be littered with them. Panic ensues over the radio and the aircrafts and the artillery will have to leave the combat area. During this time Air Raiders are unable to call in support. However it turns out that one group decides not to abandon the ground units as TO reports that they are flying through the danger zone. Half of them gets destroyed, but the rest will get through for a last airstrike. Whale and Charon then inform the Air Raiders that they are in the sky waiting for attack orders. Once every enemy is destroyed Operation Brute Force is successful.
4.1 Changes[]
More than twice as many enemies with three shield bearers, one with an increased range that can even cover the other two. To compensate, instead of the 12 rangers of 2025, now there's an actual defense line with large amount of Rangers, E551 Gigantus and E651 Titan tanks. If most of them die a smaller wave of reinforcements will come. Whale's air strike from the beginning of the mission was removed (but Charon's wasn't) probably because of the increase in allied troops.
The radio chatter and communications were also somewhat changed. The soldier won't warn against an airstrike at the beginning and instead the zones start reporting instead. When the Shield Bearers arrive HQ orders the tanks to move forward and provide covering fire instead of Ohara's unnecessary monologue.

Strategy[]
4.1[]
Since the main enemies are Hectors bring weapons that can deal with them preferably from afar, like snipers rifles or rocket launchers. Also a weapon with high rate of fire to deal with a swarm of ants and drones. Air Raiders should bring tanks and remember that air and artillery support will be temporarily disabled when the drones appear.
During the first wave you should shoot the enemy from afar concentrating on the ones on the front since they usually walk out of the bombing area.
The hardest part is the second wave when the shield bearers come. Either wait for the Hectors to come out and only shoot them when the shields are down and attack the Bearers when there's only a few of the enemies remain or attack from one of the side so less Hectors will fire at you. If you are inside the big shield, shooting the big shield bearer will make the shield shrink enabling the tanks to provide support.
When the ants and the drones attack you might want to retreat to your allies so the enemy will attack them.
The last two waves are fairly easy. Just engage the Hectors and the bug like you would normally.
