Charge Phase 2 is the thirtieth offline mission and the thirthy-second online mission in Earth Defense Force 2025 and the thirty-first offline mission and the thirty-third online mission in Earth Defense Force 4.1: The Shadow of New Despair.  It's the second phase of a three parter operation called 'Charge'.

Objective

2025: We have successfully infiltrated the nests. However, the deeper we go, the more intense the attacks. We have lost contact with almost half of our troops. The enemy has started acting in groups to flush out our troops and using traps to defeat our forces. Each squad need to be careful and eliminate any enemy close to them.

Storyline

Storm Team is alone in the middle of a labyrinth of tunnel. HQ informs them that they giant insects are coming from every direction and they should move because he can't protect them, although it's unknown how could HQ protect Storm Team. As they are fighting off the incoming hordes HQ will inform they should start moving, unfortunately thanks to the convenient roadblocks they are confined to a relatively small area. Even if Storm Team does move as fast as they can, HQ will impatiently radio in and ask why they aren't moving. HQ can't hear the in-game chat, has apparently forgotten that Storm Team has never once replied to them, and gets worried that he doesn't get a response from the heroes, so he tries to contact them again. After a while he informs the soldiers that support is on the way, despite saying earlier that he could not protect them, and they should not give up. The team's doubts of rescue prove true as the reinforcements never arrive. Storm Team clears the scene from giant insects without HQ's help and the mission is over.

4.1 Changes

As with all underground levels, this level is now dark, making it harder to spot approaching enemies, and the Air Raider can now call for the Depth Crawler or SDL1 rather than having no support available.

Also, there are more enemies and on Hardest and Inferno difficulty Silver Spiders will also appear.

Strategy

4.1

The same methods used as any underground missions. Bring machine guns, shotguns or similar weapons with wide spread, rocket launchers, or flame throwers. Wing Divers are the best suited for this kind of missions.

This mission, fortunately, only features tunnels, however every road ends in a crossroads with giant insects attacking from every direction. If you are playing with others then it's possible to focus each side of a tunnel intersection which makes this mission easy.

However, if you are playing alone, the mission becomes much more difficult; luckily, there is a nice dead end hidden in one of the tunnels, where it is relatively easy to hold out once the player arrives there. As the mission starts, immediately turn right, move down the tunnel, then turn left and get through the small group of bugs, then turn right into a nice and cozy dead-end. From there, The ravagers will only be able to attack from one direction, giving the player some breathing room, with one or two enemies usually staying back at the far end of the map, giving the player time to collect any leftover armor and weapon crates before the player completes the mission.
