Giant Robots is the twenty-third mission in Earth Defense Force 2025 and Earth Defense Force 4.1: The Shadow of New Despair.
Objective[]
2025: The Ravager's combat troops, the Hectors, have invaded the city. They currently engaged by Ranger team. However, Hector reinnforcements have arrived and are flanking Ranger team. Head out immedietaly and support the Ranger team.
4.1: The Ravagers' combat Hectors have entered a residental area. Some EDF units have already engaged them in battle, but a new group of Hectors has arrived, surrounding our soldiers. They are sitting ducks out there! Please go rescue them.
Storyline[]
The mission starts with Ranger-29 telling over the radio that their commander is dead. HQ will then order Storm Team to meet them. Not far away they can already see the soldiers fighting with Hectors, with more of them are approaching from each side surrounding the EDF soldiers. After a while the Tactics Officer will inform HQ that a Ranger team requesting to retreat, which he will deny. As the fight goes on a reinforcements of Wing Divers arrives to the scene and HQ orders a counter attack. Once the counter attack is successful and all Hectors are destroyed the mission completes.
4.1 Changes[]
The mission now starts in the middle of City 2 instead of City 1, with Storm Team and other EDF personnel, including tanks Rangers and Fencers, surrounded by the Hectors.
At the beginning of the mission Tactics Officer will inform HQ that a Ranger team requesting to retreat, which he will deny. After that the radio chatter mostly dies. Ranger-29 and the Wing Divers will only arrive if the player approaches one of the edges of the map where they spawn.
It also has more than twice as many Hectors than the old version, divided into two waves. On Hardest and Inferno difficulty there's also a third wave making it almost three times the 2025's enemies.

Strategy[]
4.1[]
Since the only enemies on this mission are Hectors the players should equip weapons that deal high damage and can deal with them from afar, such as snipers or rocket launchers. Once the closest Hectors are dealt with, the player should move out to the edge of the map, before they are surrounded, preferably towards the skyscrapers to provide cover, since the Hectors are all moving to the middle. Moving to the sidelines also has the benefit to spawn new friendly units to use as cannon fodder.
