Raznid (ラズニード, Razunīdo) is a gigantic kaiju-type enemy featured in Earth Defense Force: Iron Rain. Dwarfing the game's other kaiju enemy, Beizal, Raznid is the largest and most powerful of the Aggressors' biological weapons.
Description[]
Raznid is a colossal monster summoned by the Hivecraft. Standing approximately 300 meters tall and at over a kilometer in length, Raznid is far larger than any of the Aggressors' other biological weapons, even the 60 meter-tall Beizal. Unlike the other giant creatures employed by the Aggressors, which are genetically engineered from the DNA of terrestrial lifeforms such as insects and fish, Raznid resembles no other life on Earth. With a rocky armored exterior, six legs, an elongated vertebra-like tail, and two gigantic spikes on its shoulders, Raznid is a truly terrifying alien creature. It is speculated that rather than engineering Raznid, the Aggressors simply captured it from an alien planet and brought it to Earth to serve as their ultimate weapon.
At roughly the size of an island, Raznid's massive stature and armored skin render it immune to virtually all of the EDF's weaponry, to the point it barely seems to notice enemy attacks. Raznid is considered to be the Aggressors' final and most powerful weapon in its war to wipe out the human race, and attacks by spewing a huge stream of yellow flame from its mouth, like napalm, and an electrical orb it fires from its tail. Raznid is so large that it can terraform the Earth itself and drain its thermal energy, causing massive shifts in the climate. Despite its incredible size, Raznid can surprisingly jump very far and high and is very fast for its size.

Trivia[]
- At 310 meters in height and over a kilometer in length, Raznid is not only one of the largest enemies in the Earth Defense Force series, but is roughly the same height as the largest incarnation of Godzilla, Godzilla Earth, introduced in the 2017 anime film GODZILLA: Planet of the Monsters, who was estimated to stand over 300 meters tall.
- Raznid also shares some traits with Shin Godzilla, specifically its split lower jaw and the ability to fire a projectile weapon from its tail, which it suspends in the air above its head.
- Raznid's possession of a single perfect pair of chromosomes and its ability to reproduce asexually are also traits possessed by the kaiju Gyaos from the 1995 film Gamera: Guardian of the Universe.
