The Ravager Mantis, also known as the Robotic Praying Mantis or Destroy Mantis (デストロイ・マンティス Desutoroi Mantisu) in Japan, is a giant Ravager bio-machine seemingly derived from the Hector that first appears in Chapter 2, Level 2 of Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon, entitled "Predation".
It does not appear in any other EDF game.
Attacks[]
The Mantis is one of the more powerful enemies in the game, with similar health to a Bomber Spider and a variety of physical and projectile attacks. Its physical attacks all involve its claws; the creature can either perform a downward slash with them at close range, or crouch down at medium range and move forward slamming alternate claws on the ground.
At long range it will sweep its claws horizontally to create a flat arc of energy which travels forwards; this is powerful, but fairly easy to dodge.
Despite its enormous size, the Ravager Mantis can leap long distances, and can charge at Strike Force Lightning. Its most powerful attack is signally by it crouching and building up energy, after which it unleashes an enormous shockwave that damages anything in close proximity to it. It also explodes on death after it disintegrates, dramatically damaging any EDF in the vicinity.
