Captain Sully is a Lander Pilot in the Earth Defence Force, appearing in Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon.
He is first introduced in the 8th level of the game, "Trash Island" in Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon, and assists Strike Force Lightning on a few occasions. He is best known for his sarcastic sense of humor even in the midst of battle (which is known to annoy Ops on several occasions).

On Easy Difficulty, Captain Sully's fate, along with the rest of Lightning Squad , is unknown — whether they survived the Mothership's attack or not is unknown, until confirmed Dead or Alive, the group is listed as M.I.A.
If you beat the game on different difficulties, though, the ending is expanded upon by a few extra seconds. This reveals that the squad has, in fact, survived to bombing and are leaving the city.

- 'Sully' is a common nickname for 'Sullivan', an irish surname meaning, 'dark eyes.'
- Sully may have been named in reference to Captain Chesley Burnett Sullenberger III, also known publicly as "Captain Sully", especially given the real life Captain Sully's fame from only two years earlier than IA's release in 2009 (and therefore probably during the game's development), and the fact that IA is an American-made game, from where Sully became famous for his heroic flight-based deeds.
