Mission Description[]
Today you're assigned to Base 228. After arrival, please follow the staff's instruction and confirm your duties.
The base will open to the public this afternoon. EDF has been putting great efforts in building a better relationship with the neighborhood over the years. A large number of visitors are expected. Security and safety will be your primary concern.
Synopsis[]
Today's Schedule is the 1st mission in Earth Defense Force 5, serving as a tutorial mission and only being playable in offline. It's also the only mission in the game to feature black ants that use melee attacks, similar to red ants instead of acid.
Story[]
The Mission starts with the player, with an unnamed officer inside of Base 228. the officer will teaches the controls on how to move and play as the selected class (excluding firearms and support tools). When the player and officer start leaving the hangar, the power cuts and the officer states that its "normal". Whilst walking in the passage outside of the hangar, an alarm blares while there are soldiers screaming on the radio. the officer declares that the alarm is just a drill and the soldiers are just pulling "pranks". Several Rangers, Fencers, Blackers, and Powered Exoskeletons start rushing to exits leading to the surface while the player and officer make their way down. The officer and player stop outside a large blast door. The officer opens the blast door and immediately is snatched by a giant ant and eaten. Sarge's squad of soldiers rushes over and kills the small group of ants, strangely dubbing them "dinosaurs". Sergent leads the player into a large training room with a deactivated Barga and gives them a brief weapons tutorial. After the tutorial, the player and Sergent's squad run out of the room.
