The Vallak (ヴァラク, Varaku) and Dino Mech (メカヴァラク, Meka Varaku, lit. Mecha-Vallak) are some of the biggest enemies in Earth Defense Force 2017. They are tough, powerful, and most importantly, fast. They are only encountered three times in the entire game. You encounter three normal Vallaks and one Dino Mech. The Vallaks drop four items each and the Dino mech does not drop any.
Attacks[]
The normal ones main attack is to breath fire and if that fails to kill their target they will charge them and crush them under foot. The Cybernetic Vallak has two very powerful laser cannons that have very long range and can direct these twin slicers either straight forward or going in a horizontal line from right to left(Vallak point of view) and can deal a pretty good amount of damage if caught in the line of fire, can fire a barrage of bombs if the player is infront of it close, it can do a tail slam attack if close to it from behind, and, also like the vallaks can charge and crush enemies, yet seem to try to evade the EDF, almost knowing that the lasers can be avoided at the feet of the cyborg.
Trivia[]
- The origin of Vallak's name is unclear, but it is similar to Valac, a famous demon who had been portrayed as a winged boy mounted on two-headed dragon, and teaches the location of snakes to the summoners to avoid damages. This is consistent with the organic Vallak's somewhat demonic appearance, including its two horn-like protrusions on its back.
- The cyborg version of Vallak is called "Mecha-Vallak" in the Japanese version of the game, a clear reference to Mechagodzilla. The creature may also be a reference to monsters such as Mecha-King Ghidorah, Cyber Godzilla, and the Millennium Mechagodzilla Kiryu, all of which are the result of dead kaiju being revived and converted into cyborgs.
